The 24 hour Project
My husband is a high school English teacher and his school's Educational Technologist. Basically he is helping teachers figure out how to use ipads in the classroom. He wanted to apply for the Google Teacher Academy. Each applicant must come up with a video creating how you will use Google apps in the classroom or community. His idea was incorporating my weaving in explaining his ideas. Like all great ideas, they come at the last minute. I had twenty four hours to get my loom ready for filming. Here are some images of the mess I created along with his video.

"Gradations" by Debbie Barrett-Jones
"Gradation"
Two weeks to put together a show. When I was asked almost three weeks ago if I could put together a show in just two weeks, I had to say yes. I was so thankful I didn't have to apply for a gallery show, the 2009 Gallery is a great space and I had work to show. I thought the two weeks notice was perfect because it didn't give me much time to stress out and I wouldn't have time to make anything new. But of course, a few days after the agreement I started setting out yarn to make not only one but THREE new weavings.
I made it through the crazy four days of installation. Half of the time with my girls. Almost thought it was impossible. But here I am six days after the opening. I/my whole family survived and it was a successful opening.
And I am excited to announce that on Thursday September 27th I am having a closing reception 5-8 for those that couldn't make it to the opening.
Here is a slide show of some images that I have taken so far. Still working on editing but I wanted to go ahead and post it. ENJOY!!

Isaiah 1:18
“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."
Always up for a challenge, Jacob's Well Church had an "Open Call" for artist to create an art piece or poem influenced by some verses in Isaiah. Normally I would not do a piece that was influenced by words but I was up for the challenge. So, I looked for a verse that had colors in it.....and right away I knew this was the verse.
18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
