Good Bye, Hello

Last night I had the great pleasure in installing Green to Blue Gold to Purple to Red Three Handwoven Panels in its new home. A couple of weeks ago, I posted some pictures of the piece right after hanging them in my living room. A few days later, I got contacted my friend Clare letting me know her and her husband, Scott's interest in purchasing it. Two weeks later I took done the piece and hung in in its new home. Good Bye

Pulling white threads

I have been working on the two panel piece for a couple of months now. Each panel I am pulling extra threads out of the weaving. Once again, I have got myself in a project that is completely tedious and a little annoying. I will continue on..... I think I might only have 800 threads to go.

Five Gradation Handwoven Panels

I made Five Gradation Handwoven Panels a few years ago and It looked a little different than this. It was originally one extremely long piece, around eleven yards. Then I decided it probably would be more sensible to cut it into five panels. The warp threads are hand-dyed tencel using percentage gradation with more than twelve colors in a transition from a blue to green to gold then with a large stripe in a gradation using more than thirty colors in a transition from gold to blue to purple to red. Then I wove each one with shades of green. Made with 100% tencel. I then wove it with a wave pattern.

The Olsens

Meet the Olsen's. This lovely couple Erik and Krista Olsen have been great friends of ours for years. So it brought me great joy to make custom silhouettes for them and their doggies. This was my first two toned silhouette and I love how they turned out. Also, turquoise is my favorite color.

Peach to Khaki Sheer Handwoven Panel

Peach to Khaki Sheer Handwoven Panel is another one of those sheer woven panels that I really want to weave again. I don't have the greatest images of this piece but when you see this in person it has an "optical illusion" effect. I wove it with a simple diamond twill pattern on a 16 harness loom but it variegates with tighter and looser areas in both the warp threads and weft threads. This panel uses more than fifteen colors in gradation from light peach to light khaki.

Green to Orange Open Sheer Handwoven Panel

When I putGreen to Orange Open Sheer Handwoven Panelup for my show last September I was inspired to make another piece like this. There are woven parts next to the unwoven. There is something so lovely in seeing open threads. The contrast stands out so much. One of the reasons behind this concept is to show the process of the dye work. This piece is probably my only piece that I used plain weave pattern instead of twill.
